principles into practice network

Awards

In 2008 we launched an awards scheme to recognise and celebrate services and projects that demonstrate best practice in applying Mental Health Act principles.

By January 2009 we had received a total of 68 nominations from initiatives as far apart as Dumfries and Shetland. From social enterprises - to services for people experiencing their first episode of psychosis, the quality and diversity of our shortlist was impressive.

This section of the website provides details of those projects that were highlighted by the judging panel as projects which put the needs, rights and views of service users and carers at their heart.

Recognising and celebrating success

The winners of the first ever Principles into Practice Awards were  announced at the Network conference in Glasgow on 10th March 2009. Four winners were chosen by a judging panel that represented the breadth of mental health stakeholders in Scotland. A fifth award - was voted on by Network delegates at the conference.

The Network judging panel thought that the shortlisted and winning projects demonstrated practice that others could learn from.  To explore projects please click on the links below:

Addressing the specific needs of children and young people who use mental health services

Carer involvement and support

Innovative and flexible responses to meeting the needs of service users

Participation and service user influence

Providing high quality information for mental health service users

Unfortunately, the submissions received in the category 'Respecting diversity in mental health services' did not receive enough submissions for the judging panel to consider making an award.
