Projects shortlisted in this category are working to promote recovery, long term mental well being and age appropriate care and treatment for young people with a mental illness. In particular they can demonstrate how they are delivering one or more of the following:
- Care and treatment that takes place in the most appropriate setting or service
- Support for children and young people to remain in/engage with formal education
- Support for children and younger people to maintain contact with families and to engage in social activities
- Access to inclusive mainstream youth services
- Access to specialist advocacy services - including collective advocacy and peer support

NHS Lothian Early Psychosis Support Service

The NHS Lothian Early Psychosis Support Service (EPSS) is a unique CAMHS based early intervention service for psychosis. The service accepts referrals for young people experiencing psychosis who present before their 19th birthday and will provide intensive intervention for up to 3 years. EPSS sits within a Tier IV CAMHS service.

Fife Youth Project
The Fife Youth Project was set up in 2003 by a steering group made up of representatives from Penumbra, NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Social Work, to provide support, advice and early/crisis intervention initially to looked after young people aged 14-16 and vulnerable young people aged 16 -21 in the community. The service was extended to include all children and young people aged 12- 21 in 2006. We are a Fife-wide Project, which is community based and voluntary sector led, but which also links to mainstream mental health services.
