The following reports help to inform the development of services that are appropriate to the needs and capacity of black and minority ethnic communities in Scotland.
Scoping exercise with Black and minority ethnic groups on perceptions of mental wellbeing in Scotland. NHS Health Scotland commissioned the University of Central Lancashire to undertake a brief scoping exercise looking at how Scottish Pakistani and Chinese communities understand mental well being. The full report contains the results of a brief literature review and interviews with around 40 key informants from these communities.
A summary report of mental health projects in four local areas which makes a number of key recommendations on delivering mental health and well-being improvement activities with black and minority ethnic communities. Supported by the National Resource Centre for Ethnic Minority Health (NRCEMH), the work was funded through the National Programme for Improving Mental Health and Well-Being in Scotland.
Led by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, these reports list work undertaken between 2005 and 2007 to research and address the stigma associated with mental health problems amongst black and minority ethnic (BME) communities in Glasgow.
